Temporal is strongest at reliability guarantees for long-running, multi-step processes. We reach for it when that is the property a workload actually depends on, and we say so when it is not.
Temporal earns its operational weight on workflows measured in hours or days: an onboarding sequence that waits for a document, a claims process that pauses for an assessor, a migration that runs for a week. Those are exactly the cases where a cron job and a status column quietly become unmaintainable.
Below that threshold it is over-engineering. A queue and idempotent handlers cover most short workflows at a fraction of the operational cost.
We build the smallest thing that proves the case, put it in front of real users, and expand only what earns its keep. You own the code, the models where they are open-weight, and the documentation to run it without us.
