Building with OpenCV
OpenCV is strongest at classical techniques still outperform models for many well-defined vision tasks. We reach for it when that is the property a workload actually depends on, and we say so when it is not.
OpenCV is easy to underrate. A well-tuned classical pipeline still beats a neural model on many well-defined tasks, runs in milliseconds on a CPU, and needs no training data at all.
Its limitation is brittleness. Hand-tuned thresholds work beautifully until the lighting changes or a camera is nudged, which is why we usually pair it with a model rather than relying on it alone in variable conditions.
Every engagement opens with a measurement: the cycle time, the cost per transaction, or the error rate we are being asked to move. You own the code, the models where they are open-weight, and the documentation to run it without us.
