Intelligent document processing

IDP goes beyond OCR: it identifies fields, validates them against master data, and routes low-confidence extractions to a human queue.
Straight-through processing rate, the share completing with no human touch, is the metric that matters.
The review queue is where the design succeeds or fails. If low-confidence extractions land in a screen that shows the document image beside the extracted field, reviewers work quickly and the system improves. If they land in a spreadsheet detached from the source, the queue silently becomes a backlog.
Measure by document type before drawing conclusions. An aggregate straight-through rate usually hides one clean high-volume format performing well and one awkward legacy format dragging the average down, and only the second is worth engineering effort.
Vendor claims in this category deserve a specific question: what is the straight-through rate on documents like mine, measured over a full month rather than on a demo set? A supplier who cannot answer that has not run the system on messy real input, which is the only place the number matters.
