Why Supabase for this

Kitchen staff will not fight an interface during a rush. KOT flow gets designed around the physical kitchen layout, not around a screen mockup.

Supabase is strongest at production-grade auth and RLS without building them, on standard Postgres you can leave. For restaurant pos & management software that matters because the failure modes of this kind of system tend to cluster exactly there.

The honest trade-off: opinionated in ways that occasionally fight a complex custom auth model. We say that up front because a stack chosen for fashion rather than fit becomes someone's migration project two years later. We build the smallest thing that proves the case, put it in front of real users, and expand only what earns its keep.

We hand over with runbooks, tests and a team that knows how it works, not a dependency.

We are not a reseller for Supabase and hold no commission on this choice. Where a different option fits your workload better, the recommendation will say so. That is the entire value of asking us.

What is included

  • Billing that works offline and syncs when connectivity returns
  • KOT routing to the correct kitchen station and printer
  • Swiggy and Zomato order ingestion into one queue
  • Table, takeaway and delivery flows in a single interface
  • Inventory with recipe-level costing and wastage tracking
  • GST-compliant invoicing and daily closing reports

Questions

Does it work without internet?

Yes, billing and KOT run locally and sync when the connection returns. This is a hard requirement in this sector rather than a feature.

Can it pull Swiggy and Zomato orders?

Yes, through their partner APIs, into the same order queue as dine-in and takeaway so the kitchen works from one screen.

Do we need custom, or will an off-the-shelf POS do?

Most single outlets are well served by an existing product and we will say so. Custom earns its cost for multi-outlet chains, unusual formats or cloud kitchens with complex routing.
